New aid programme for the self-employed

Through Barcelona Activa, the Barcelona City Council has launched an aid programme for self-employed workers in order to free the self-employed from part of the costs they must bear during the first year of activity.
How much is the grant?
The amount of the subsidy will be calculated for expenses justified at the time of making the application (excluding VAT), must be in the name of a single applicant and within the maximum grant limits according to age on the date of commencement of activity:
– 3. 600 € for people from 31 to 39 years old
– 4,000 € in the case of an age of 30 years or less or 40 years or more.
What expenses are subsidize?
– Social security contributions
– Taxes related to the start of economic activity and the first establishment
– Consultancy and consultancy fees
– Rental of premises or offices for tax purposes
– Rental of work spaces and/or services provided for these establishments in relation to professional activity
Who can apply for the grant?
All persons registered in Barcelona who have started a new economic activity such as:
– Self-employed workers (male and female entrepreneurs)
– New members of worker cooperatives
Provided they meet the following requirements:
– Have started a new economic activity as of January 1, 2015
– Registration as an individual businesswoman or businesswoman in the city of Barcelona as a public prosecutor
– Registration in the city of Barcelona at least three months before registration as a public prosecutor
– Be unemployed before the start of the activity
– Not having registered the RETA for the same activity in the year prior to the date of registration
– Be up to date with tax obligations
– The members of work cooperatives under the RETA will have to fulfil the same conditions
