We interviewed Anna Pujol, Director of Hostesses Girona

What exactly does Hostesses Girona do and what are the main services it offers?

Hostesses Girona offers services for events, whether hostesses for conventions, fairs and congresses; sales promoters for supermarkets, product launches or store openings; and models for fittings/showrooms, photo shoots for online stores, catwalks or catalogs.

In addition to this main line of services, our structure allows us to meet the needs of customers in a personalized way, so we have come to cover all kinds of positions related to events, whether image or logistical positions (fitters for events, receptionists for companies, waiters for catering or weddings, drivers for guest transfers, valet parking for weddings, children’s monitors, etc.). In addition to hostesses for events, you also offer other profiles such as models, extras, receptionists or waiters.

Could you tell us more about these services and how they are managed?

As I mentioned, we provide a wide variety of services. Given the complexity and bureaucracy of staff recruitment nowadays, there are more and more companies that, when they need to reinforce certain activities on time, prefer to outsource them instead of taking care of the selection and recruitment. This makes it very important to have a large and continuously updated staff, taking into account the time availability of all these people (they can be students who can only work part-time in the mornings or evenings, or people with a main job who can only do extras on weekends) as well as their skills for a wide variety of tasks (from waiters, experienced drivers, babysitting services, translators with languages, etc.).

When you receive a request from a client, it is key to have this database updated in order to be able to carry out the selection in the most agile way possible and with the highest quality.

What kind of clients usually work with you, and are there sectors or types of events in which you have a greater presence?

We work with a wide range of clients, from small local or Girona area companies that may need extra staff a couple of times a year for a company party, open days or similar events, to clients that count on us regularly (almost daily), such as leading brands that require promoters at the point of sale to maintain their prominent position in the market, or companies that prefer to outsource profiles that are difficult to find, such as models for clothing fittings of a specific size of important textile brands. Currently, we have a strong presence with models in the textile sector and with sales promoters in the food sector. The hostesses’ side of protocol for fairs, congresses and conventions was the most damaged by the COVID, and although it is recovering, we have not yet reached the pre-pandemic levels.

How many years have you been operating in Girona and what has been the trajectory of the company so far?

Although the manager of the company, Anna Pujol, had already been in the sector for about 10 years when she decided to found Hostesses Girona, with the current agency we have been offering support to events in Girona for 15 years. As for the trajectory of the company, we have been incorporating new clients over the years, adding to those who started with us and who, for the most part, are still with us today. We have received on numerous occasions proposals to extend the coverage of our services to other areas of the national territory or even to merge with agencies in other regions, but our philosophy is to grow in volume and be strong in the province of Girona, so that we can lead the sector in our province.

What do you think makes you stand out in such a competitive sector as the event and staffing services?

We are convinced that the differential factor of Hostesses Girona with respect to other event staffing agencies is the proximity with each client, as well as the proximity with the staff that will be the face of the event. On the one hand, the proximity with the clients allows us to respond to very specific needs or those that deviate from the most usual services, and also to be able to react quickly in last minute services. On the other hand, the proximity to our staff allows us to offer a much higher quality of service than if we were a statewide agency, where we would have to select staff remotely. In fact, our clients often let us know about it. On numerous occasions, very powerful brands for which we have been providing hostesses in the province of Girona for many years and who are very satisfied with the service received, have proposed to us to extend our services to a national level.

How do you manage the selection, training and preparation of staff to ensure that they meet customer expectations?

Our entire team goes through a rigorous selection process to ensure that they are properly qualified to perform the services that will be assigned to them. However, when we receive requests from our clients, and given the wide range of tasks that can be requested within our sector, we assess which personnel profile is the most suitable for the tasks to be performed. Once the selection is made, we carry out small training sessions or briefings (either face-to-face or online) specific to the job in question.

Could you share any outstanding experience or project that represents the professionalism and quality of your team?

There are many anecdotes throughout these 15 years of which we are very proud. In terms of projects, some big brands have decided to carry out pilot tests of campaigns in Girona with our staff which, after verifying that they have worked well, have been implemented throughout the national territory. We have participated in congresses and international fairs, our staff has given support to very important people from the world of politics, sport or cinema and television. In addition, our models have been selected for international works with repercussion in the media all over the world. Some very important national clients ask us day after day to extend our services beyond the province of Girona and give them coverage throughout the national territory, because they have not found any supplier like us.

However, what gives us most satisfaction is that we have been accompanied throughout this 15-year trajectory by many clients. Some of them do not have a large volume, but we know that whenever they need something in our sector they always come back, and others are very powerful brands that we serve daily with all their needs throughout the year. Whether they are one or the other, knowing that they continue with us year after year and that, after each service, they send us congratulations on our management and the work of our staff, is a source of great pride. Whether they are large or small clients, we appreciate very much that they continue with us and that they recommend us to others, and we dedicate the same attention and effort to make each service a success.

Finally, what do you value most about CINC?

We have been with CINC since Hostesses Girona opened its doors 15 years ago, I guess that speaks for itself. In CINC we have found something similar to what we offer: proximity in the treatment, professionalism and commitment of the staff, and a great ability to adapt to the needs that arise every day.

For starters, at CINC we have a magnificent central space, always ready for meetings, personnel selection, briefings and team building. In the end, we are a small company and it would not be possible for us to maintain these same facilities on our own. On the other hand, in 15 years there have been moments of everything and many types of needs have arisen, and CINC has always provided us with access to what we have needed within the services offered.
